Verrückter Däne plus Aloe Blacc. Klingt nicht nur funky, sondern auch ein bisschen nach Sommerhit. Die Nummer ist in Dänemark schon ganz groß, wurde co-produziert von Thomas Troelsen (u.a. ‘Move Your Feet’ von Junior Senior; ‘Hot Summer’ von Monrose) und war bereits letztes Jahr schon von EA Sports im FIFA-Spiel zur WM in Südafrika gefeatured. Mal sehen was da noch so geht. Die Zeit ist vielleicht reif…

Das dazugehörige Album ‘The Sound Of…’ erscheint hierzulande am 1.Juli.
Jamie Woon steht dieses Jahr auf meiner ‘Newcomer-Liste, die man sich merken sollte’ ganz weit oben. Die Single ‘Lady Luck’ ist für mich der Track des Sommers. Herausragender Beat und enormes Potential, das hoffentlich auch ausgeschöpft werden wird.
Ich kann dazu nur sagen, dass es der einzig neue (an der Stelle an kleines ‘leider’) Song ist, den ich jede Woche auflege und der auch ankommt, obwohl man ihn noch nicht so kennt. Das zeigt sich vor allem deswegen, weil außergewöhnlich viele Leute danach fragen. Und die sind von 20 bis 40 Jahren und durch alle, anhand der Äußeren vermuteten Lebensstile, nicht klar zu kategorisieren. Also gute Vorraussetzungen für einen Song auch kommerziell Erfolg zu haben. Und das wünsche ich jedem guten Künstler, wie auch Jamie Woon einer zu sein scheint.

Das Album ‘Mirrorwriting’ ist stimmungabhängig, aber mitreißend. Ruhig und minimalistisch. Melancholisch und poetisch. Und vor allem ‘Night Air’ trifft mich tief dabei in meiner von der Nacht erfüllten Seele.

‘Shoulda’ ist ein weiterer Track, der sich still und heimlich durch die Gehörgänge geschlichen hat und mir nicht mehr aus dem Kopf geht. Selbes gilt für ‘Middle’ und ‘Spirits’.

Ich denke das alles verschafft einen guten ersten Eindruck. Ich kann des weiteren auch nur noch mal erwähnen, dass ‘Mirrorwriting’ ein ebenso innovatives wie spannendes Album ist, das man, bzw. ich, guten Gewissens empfehlen kann.
So, da haben wir den Salat. Unsere Homies DBN haben ein Video zu ihrer Single ‘All My Life’ gedreht. Ich glaube, das hatte weniger mit Arbeit als mit Spaß zu tun. Der Track dazu ist nach wie vor hervorragend. Vor allem auch wegen der unverkennbar Stimme von Jason Ceaser. Just really nice!
